2023/24 Banning USD Bus Routes Attached











Welcome Back #BanningUSD students! We are so excited for the 2023/24 school year and happy to welcome you back, let's have a great year!


The Transportation Department has been focused on ensuring student transportation routes remain on time, however, staffing challenges will continue to impact pick up and drop off times. Please note changes to routes that may impact your student as provided below.
Route 1 AM and PM
Route 2 AM has been deleted
Route 4 AM
Route 5 AM
New Route 6 AM/PM
Please also note, the Broadway & Esperanza stop is temporarily closed due to construction. Please use the next closest stops at Esperanza & Sunrise or the Community Center
Your students need your help! If you know someone that would like to be a substitute driver or apply for an open position please reach out to............. (HR, edjoin or transportation). The department is offering free-of-cost paid training for substitutes and creating a pool of certified drivers for permanent open positions.
In response to the driver labor shortage, the District and driver union representatives have settled on a great compensation package:
8% increase to salaries plus a 5% split-shift differential increase
Van Driver range: $18.14 - $23.15 per hour (step 1 for substitutes)
Bus Driver range: $21.57 - $27.53 per hour (step 1 for substitutes)
Full time eight (8) hour positions for 208 days a year with a health and welfare District contribution of $15,922
Van Driver total compensation with salary and benefits: $46,106 - $54,443
Bus Driver total compensation with salary and benefits: $51,814 - $61,731
$1,000 sign-on incentive (fully paid within the first 6 months)
Various overtime opportunities for student field trips

Welcome Back Cabazon Dinos! We are excited to see all our new and returning friends tomorrow for out First Day of School. Gates open at 8:15 am and breakfast begins.
Reminder: Parents/guardians are welcome to walk their students to breakfast and to class for the first day of school and will have to be off campus by 9am.
Morning drop-off: Bus Lane must be kept clear for the buses, please do not park in this lane. If you are getting off to walk your student to the gate you must park in the parking lot.
After School pick-up: Parents picking up their students after school must park in the parking lot and walk to the gate. Please do not block the Bus Lane.

Congratulations to the following leadership team appointees from the #BanningUSD Board of Education meeting tonight: Robert Hicks as the Assistant Principal of Banning High School and Bryan Downer as the Assistant Principal of Nicolet Middle School.
Mr. Hicks previously served Pomona Unified School District for 26 years. Of those 26 years he served as a teacher at Garey HIgh School for 24 years. Later he became the Dean of Students, and most recently he served as the Assistant Principal. Mr. Hicks has been involved in curriculum planning for teachers and facilitates post-secondary career educational programs.
Mr. Downer has been in education for 23 years at the Palm Springs Unified School District. Of those years he spent 14 years teaching at the Middle School and 7 years teaching at the high school level. Most recently, he served at the Dean of Students for Rancho Mirage High School. Mr. Downer has been a teacher mentor and a Trainer of Trainers in the use of thinking maps in daily instruction.

With our summer meal program in full force, the city of Banning is having construction work done in front of Repplier Park on George St. At this time we kindly ask that any students picking up summer meals from Repplier Park please enter the park on Wilson st. They will be serving meals by the tennis court area. This slight adjustment will only be for this week from 7/17-7/21. We hope to see you there!
