Dear Hemmerling Families and Community, It is with a mix of gratitude and heartfelt reflection that I share my professional transition. After six incredibly rewarding years as Principal at Hemmerling Elementary, I will be moving into a new role as Principal at Central Elementary School. While this marks a new chapter in my professional journey, Hemmerling will forever remain close to my heart. Together, we have faced challenges that tested us, including the difficulties brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and the pivot to distance learning. But through resilience, unity, and dedication, we also celebrated tremendous accomplishments—exiting Program Improvement and gaining significant growth. These milestones are evidence of the hard work of our staff, the support of our families, and the strength of our students. Hemmerling has grown into a model of perseverance and progress. The care and commitment you have shown to our Mustangs and the broader community are the foundation of that success. I am deeply proud of what we have accomplished together. Though I may be stepping into a new role, this is not a farewell. We remain one Banning community, united in our dedication to our students and their futures. It has been an honor to serve as the proud Principal of Hemmerling, and I carry with me every memory and every lesson learned from our shared journey. As we look ahead, I am pleased to introduce Mr. Johnny Baker as Hemmerling’s new Principal. Mr. Baker brings strong leadership, a heart for students, and a passion for education that I know will resonate deeply within our school community. I am confident that he will continue to foster the culture of excellence and belonging we’ve worked so hard to build. I kindly ask that you welcome him with the same warmth and partnership you have so generously extended to me. Thank you for entrusting me with your children, your hopes, and your partnership. With deep appreciation, Ileana Gutierrez, Ed.D Principal, Hemmerling Elementary

Dear Parents/Guardians, We hope this message finds you well. As a reminder, state testing begins today, April 30, 2025, and will continue until May 16, 2025. This is an important time for our students, and we want to ensure they have every opportunity to succeed. To help your child perform their best, please consider the following tips: Ensure a Good Night’s Sleep: Adequate rest helps students focus and stay energized during testing. Provide a Nutritious Breakfast: Starting the day with a healthy meal supports concentration and stamina. Encourage a Positive Attitude: Motivate your child to approach testing with confidence and their best effort. Arrive on Time: Timely attendance ensures a smooth start to the test and avoids added stress. Additionally, students who are present, on time every day, and put forth their best effort during testing will be rewarded with access to a Video Game Truck on campus—an exciting way to celebrate their hard work! Thank you for supporting your child's success during state testing. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

Important Safety Reminder for School Pickup 🚸 Dear Parents and Guardians, We hope this message finds you well. To ensure the safety of our students, staff, and community during school pickup, we kindly ask for your cooperation in adhering to the following important procedures. These measures are in place to keep everyone safe and to maintain smooth operations: 1️⃣ Parking Lot Safety: Please refrain from parking in the lot before school dismissal and attempting to leave while the cones are still up. This poses risks to pedestrians and other vehicles. 2️⃣ Crossing with Care: Always use the designated crossing area with the crossing guard's assistance. Crossing in the middle of the road disrupts traffic flow and compromises safety. 3️⃣ Traffic Rules Still Apply: Remember that stop signs remain in effect at all times, even if the crossing guard is not present. The crossing guard's role is to manage pedestrian flow, not to direct vehicle traffic. 4️⃣ Red Curb Awareness: Please do not stop on the red curb to pick up your children. This not only blocks traffic but also creates challenges for buses and other vehicles trying to pass. 5️⃣ Student Safety First: Encourage your children to avoid crossing back and forth unnecessarily, such as for ice cream or when plans with parents change unexpectedly. This can lead to confusion and potential hazards. 6️⃣ Accountability Matters: Please remind students not to hide behind the building if you’re running late. If students are unable to locate their parents, they should return to the school office. Additionally, please ensure that the National Guard armory corridor near the front door remains off-limits to students. Open communication ensures a safer and smoother pickup process. Your cooperation is vital in helping us create a safe and efficient environment for everyone. Let's work together to ensure the safety of all our students—because their well-being is always our top priority! Thank you for your attention and understanding. Sincerely, Hemmerling School
